ITC Partners: From the Cotton up to the Garment

A newly-constructed building; the latest European equipment; more than 230 employees; Italian consultants; strong export orientation; efforts to implement internationally-recognized standards; dynamic development; and a clear target to finalize the entire textile and clothing process, from cotton processing to the production of clothing. All of thisdescribes “Spitamen Textiles” LLC in just three years of activity.

“Spitamen Textiles” was officially launchedat the end of 2009, in the district of the same name, in the north of Tajikistan and is 100% private. Currently, the factory produces yarn, which is made of 100% cotton, but the ultimate goal is to build a big industrial complex of yarn-producing lines, a knitted goods factory,a dyeing and finishing unit, and a garment factory. The goal is to set up the full cycle of cotton processing, from the starting stagesto the final products.

         Just Three Years and They Are among the Leaders

The company has received some tax and custom preferences from the Government of Tajikistan, in order to support its aim of covering the full cycle of cotton processing inside the country. Mr. Isfandiyor Ayoubov, the company’s Finance Manager, says that each new line will create more than 200 jobs for local women, who will be trained to use the complicated modern technology.

Currently, the company exports its yarn to Turkey, Iran, Italy and Russia. Mr. Mirzoqodir Baqoev, General Director of ”Spitamen Textiles”, told ITC that the company’s foreign partners are also interested in importing its other products. The company management actively collaborates with the ITC project and participates in all project events. The representatives of the company were part of the Tajik textiles and clothing delegation during the study visits to Paris and Shanghai, organized under the Trade Promotion Programme in Tajikistan. Mr. Baqoev highly appreciates the level of collaboration between his company and the ITC project. He believes that the project-organised workshops, trainings, meetings, and study tours are important for the textiles and clothing sector in Tajikistan and give impetus to his company.
