Tajikistan enterprises for the first time join hundreds of companies worldwide to showcase products and services at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), the world’s 1st professional and international import expo and trade fair. This unique opportunity is made possible thanks to the Government of Switzerland through the International Trade Centre (ITC)’s Global Textiles and Clothing Programme.
The China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai on 5-10 November 2018, is a high-level initiative of the Government of China and gathers government officials, development partners, business communities, and exhibitors from more than 100 countries. In total, the Expo is expected to attract 150,000 professional buyers from China, the second largest consumer and importing country in the world, and other countries. The CIIE therefore represents a unique opportunity for Tajik textile and clothing business leaders to explore the Chinese market and initiate business contacts with Chinese buyers.
Tajikistan delegation consists of the following textile and clothing companies: “Faizi Istiklol-2011”, “HIMA Textile”, “Lider”, “Ortex”, “Rahimov A.A.”, “Spitamen Textiles”, and “Vahdat”. In Shanghai, the ITC-supported companies will be showcasing their products, establishing new contacts with potential business partners and exploring how to tap into the Chinese market. In cooperation with local partner consulting companies, ITC has prepared the selected companies to participate in global trade fairs and familiarize themselves with Chinese market requirements. ITC experts will provide continued advisory support to companies throughout the event, to set-up their booths and manage their business interactions with visitors and professional buyers.
Commenting on the initiative, ITC Executive Director Arancha González said: ‘ITC is proud to partner with China for the first edition of CIIE, which offers a new arena for South-South trade, cooperation and dialogue. For the companies we are supporting to attend, the event provides a unique opportunity to tap into the huge potential offered by the Chinese market. For developing and least developed countries, the CIIE is an opportunity to be exposed to new export markets and increase their competitiveness through trade.’
In total, ITC supports participation of 100 companies from different sectors and representing 20 countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan to attend CIIE.
